Hood River Golf Course

History:
Hood River Golf and Country Club was one of the early golf courses in the Northwest, being built in 1922/3.  The course was designed and built by H Chandler Egan and George Junor.  Opening day was in early September of 1923 with members from Portland Golf Club driving up the gorge for a day of golf with members of the new club.

The great Depression saw the course being sold by the members to a private party.  It has remained in private hands since that time, with the current owners purchasing the course in the late 1970´s.  The big change came with the plan to expand to 18 holes.  A remodel of the existing holes and addition of 3 new holes (#2-4) was the first phase of the process, with completion in 1994.  The back 9 was carved out of the trees, hills and canyons following completion of the front 9.  The course now plays to a par of 71 (36-35), with the front 9 covering the lower portion of the property, and the back 9 climbing the hills to the west of the front 9.

 

Indian Creek Golf Course

History:

Located just about 50 miles east of Portland International Airport (PDX), centrally located in Oregon's Mid-Columbia region. Following the waterfalls along Columbia River on I-84 East you will enter into the first National Scenic Area in the United States. The course is situated in the beautiful Hood River Valley surrounded by orchards and wineries. There are spectacular views of Mt. Hood to the south and Mt. Adams to the north. Views of these snow capped peaks follow you around the entire course. The club get's its name from one of three meandering creeks that pose interesting challenges on many of the holes. Even at 6150 yds the course places a premium on accurate shot making and requires some creativity as well. Eleven of the holes have water in play and provide sanctuary to a variety of wildlife. The greens are some of the best in the Oregon so, once you have reached them, another challenge awaits!
