On a whim, Jamel moved to Hood River in March 2000 and immediately felt rooted. Somewhat of a world traveler, Jamel has lived in many different places around the globe from Flushing, NY where she grew up and attended high school in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village; upstate New York, where she received her BA with honors in English literature and was valedictorian of her graduating class; Preston, England, where she completed a one-year exchange program and traveled extensively throughout western and eastern Europe during the fall of the Berlin wall; Alaska, where she spent a summer backpacking Denali and living in the small bush town of Iliamna with the Inuit Native American tribe; San Francisco, CA, where she landed her second job out of college at a high-technology public relations firm in Silicon Valley: her first was journalist for a daily newspaper in upstate New York; Boulder, Colorado, where she got into trail running and mountain biking and met a dear friend who grew up in Hood River, enticing her to “just visit.” Needless to say, Jamel never made it back to Boulder.

Hood River is a special place with a true sense of community, rivers and lakes in every direction, forests and farms framing the valley, giant boulders and snow-capped mountains, acres of trail systems  – all with an eclectic downtown filled with top-rate restaurants, art galleries, coffee shops, wineries, community theater, green spaces, festivals and fun family-based activities --  and so much more.

In May 2001, Jamel became a full-time broker with Don Nunamaker, Realtors, and maintains her license in both Oregon and Washington. Since then, she has serviced many happy clients in the purchasing and selling of properties all over The Gorge. Jamel is a hard-worker, goal-oriented, a great negotiator – all with that rare ability to get along famously with people from all walks of life.  Jamel actively works not only the Hood River real estate market – but also The Dalles, Rowena, Mosier, Parkdale, Odell and Cascade Locks in Oregon; and White Salmon, Bingen, Snowden, Trout Lake, Lyle, Murdock, Dallesport, Home Valley, Carson and Stevenson in Washington.

Jamel’s Hobbies Include trail running, mountain biking, volunteering within the community and –newest on the list – learning to kiteboard. Every day, Jamel counts her blessings and feels grateful and thankful that she gets to work and live in such a wonderful community with, really, something for everyone and so much to offer. Jamel is not only a great Realtor® who truly looks out for her clients’ best interests; she is also experienced and well-rounded, passionate about her community and the clients’ she services, and often becomes a guide and a friend for life. And unless she’s having one of those rare bad days – which is very difficult to achieve here in The Gorge -- she does it all with a smile!
